As the title suggests, my post will be about the Edna's suicide (whoops spoiler). Although suicide is usually viewed in a negative form, some people may argue to Edna's suicide was, not so much a positive but beneficiary (more so towards her kids). It is explained how Edna feels why so needed to commit the actions she did “a woman’s identity as a human being is more important and essential than the role as a mother." (Chopin 100). So there is two very strong sides to this argument. One side can argue that Edna's decision of committing suicide was charitable towards her kids. She wasn't much of a maternal figure to begin off with, and it could be proclaimed that she was a burden on them. The other side is that she took the easy way out. That when things began to become difficult, she decided to just opt out and not just strengthen through the pain for the people who cared deeply about her.
